Egbeda Local Government was created along with it other L.G in 1989, what now constitutes Egbeda local government area was caned out of old Lagelu Local Government area.

It is located to the East and North East of Ibadan city, it is bounded on the west by Irewole Local Government Area which is now Osun State of Nigeria. It has a land mass of about 410

Egbeda Local Government with its head quarter at Egbeda is divided into 11 wards. It has a fertile land mass with farming population scattered all over the rural areas. There are about 195 settlements in the Local Government and over 60% of these are urban in nature.

It has forty primary schools apart from several private nursery and primary schools, it has 8 public secondary institutions and some few private ones common type of farming in the Local Government is the subsistence agriculture of crops like maize, cassava, yam cocoa, vegetable and citrus fruit such as plantain, banana and pine apple. Means of transportation most available with the Local Government is by roads and foot paths.

The most common factory in the Local Government area is black making, sawmills and petrol stations. Within the local government area are the Nigeria Breweries (Ltd) plc on the New –Ife Road, a plant of coca-cola Bottling company at Asejire. A foam manufacturing company in Egbeda (Bode Foam). Ashminal Manufacturing company at Olodo. Also New Gbagi market (largest market in Oyo State), Asejire water works, Nigerian Airport Authority at Alakia, Ajoda New town secretariat and the I.Y.Y youth Village at Ajoda. Agbala Itura Church is another place of interest.

Later in 2016, creation of 35 LCDA’s came into being where Ajorosun LCDA was carved out of Egbeda Local Government by immediate past Executive Governor of Oyo State, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi in order to accelerate even development at the grassroot level.

There are 21 Secondary schools and 26 Primary Schools.

Egbeda Local Government comprises of 4 wards which consists of major Areas which include:

WARD 8: Osengere, Fashade, Asejire, Erinmi.

WARD 9: Oluwo, Ogungbade, Egbeda, Kokuoda, Ajule, Abaa Baale.

WARD 10: Olode, Adegbayi, Olosan, Isebo, Alakia, Alalubosa

WARD 11: Olubadan, Alarere, Oremeji, Ogbere, Akingbade Oke koto, Olaogun, Onideure, Morad
